About The Author

I’m supposed to write something about myself so you know who’s behind The Outlaw Preacher books.  It’s a little weird writing about myself, I don’t enjoy doing it but I wanted you to know who wrote your books and why.  So, here goes:  I’m a husband, a son, a dad, a grandpa, a friend, a pastor and Nomad with The Prophets MC in Southern California and now Michigan.

Writing The Outlaw Preacher series is my attempt to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world in which I live.  There are many methods by which we can spread the gospel and all of us are called to tell people about the Lord Jesus Christ in our respective lives.  This was my way.  We now have 3 “Outlaw” adventures, “The Miracle”, book 2 in the series where  “Nine Ball” has just begun his ministry and there are many people yet to reach.  The enemy will never let him rest but as you know, he’s up to the task.  “Redemption” is book 3 and is off the chain!  Although the books are written to stand on their own, its highly recommended you read them in order, there’s lots of development of characters you’d miss if you just randomly picked up a book and read it.  I’m encouraged by your comments, please keep ’em coming.

Thank you for reading the books.  I hope you enjoy them and look forward to more.  News Flash:  Book 4 is in the works, as of today 3/12/17 I have written just over half of the book and it’s beyond wild….and crazy.  Stay tuned!

Book 4, “The OUTLAW PREACHER-THE RECKONING” is finished as of July 4.  It’s in the editing process now and will be available very soon.  Stay tuned.

Peace, John

I am available to speak to your church or other organization, just drop me a line on this site.  I look forward to meeting you.

Wow! that is great to hear. I appreciate your comments very much. If you purchased the book on Amazon, I would love it if you could take a minute and leave a review. That really helps the authors alot. I finished the next book and it’s at the editors office now but won’t be ready until mid-October. You are gonna love the book! Lots of action, tons of drama, it really takes off from page one. I’m excited about it too. Thanks again for the kind words. Ride safe! Keep your eyes on Jesus!!

John, I just want to say what a soul reviving experience your two books have meant in my life. God’s timing is perfect as the season He has put me in is facing up to my own legalism and way of doing things. I came from a rough background with a different set of rules, when God changed my life I fell into following a set of rules instead of following the life of Jesus. The last year or so God has really been working on me and I look at being a follower of Christ in a totally different way. He has proven to me that being Godly and righteous doesn’t mean to set yourself higher than anyone else or try to fix their problems, it means to humble yourself and ;let God fix those problems and just be a servant of God. I have been a Christian for 10 years and I just led my first person to Christ two weeks ago in the front seat of my truck. Your outlaw code has helped me achieve more of this attitude in my daily life and I wanted to thank you for your ministry. I am thinking of doing a 30 day blog focused on me living the Out Law code in my daily life and write about what God has shown me through this experience. I wanted to let you know and see if you had any thoughts on this idea. My goal is to share my story and how God is changing my life, which is probably just like alot of possible readers.

Thanks again for your ministry

Richard,

I am thrilled for you and very glad you liked the books. Your response is what I pray will happen with everyone. You hit the nail on the head when you said, “let God” because we all get caught up in what we can do for Jesus when it’s really all about what He’s already done for us. Churches are guilty of bringing legalism into our New Covenant grace by injecting the competitive evangelism concept into our lives. Nobody really understands His command for us to “rest in Him” instead of busying ourselves trying to impress God and our church friends with all we do. I will look forward to reading your adventure! That is exactly what it is, an adventure. I’m from Michigan myself, I was glad to see Battle Creek on your FB profile. God bless you and may you expand daily in grace!

John, I read both of your books in the span of a few days. It was awesome to read about a guy who closely follows my own background and spiritual walk with the Lord. How cool is that? If the inspiration hits you, I sure would read another Outlaw Preacher book!

John, my wife purchased The Outlaw Preacher for me from amazon and I received it on Tuesday (1/22/13). I’m not a big reader unless its something that really sparks my interest. I have had a hard time putting this book down and will for sure be finished with it by tomorrow (today is Saturday). You can tell that God was all in this when you wrote it. Very exciting and the part when James talks about salvation thru dinner at Olive Garden and especially afterward when Marc and Robin gave their lives to Christ, had my Spirit excited and emotional. I just ordered The Miracle off of this website and cant wait to get it in the mail. I didn’t give me an option to have it personalized by you like I had read, so I was wondering if it was still an option to have done?

Thanks,

1 thing bothered me. Read Genesis chapters 2 & 3 to find out which tree got Adam and Eve into trouble. I copied some of the Bible to show you, but can’t email you from this site – so.

You are so right! My haste in writing that cost me dearly! Thank you for catching that, I will make every attempt to fix that before too many more books get out. I appreciate your comments on the book. The next book, The Outlaw Preacher-The Miracle is available on Amazon as well. Hope you like it.

John –

I met you at your booth at Fishfest in Orange County a few weeks ago, and got an autographed copy of Outlaw Preacher.

I really enjoyed reading Outlaw Preacher, and going to order your second book as well. I am thinking of writing a book about one of my experiences as a Christian lawyer. There were some things I really liked about your book – one was that it had what I call “good pace.” It kept one’s attention, wasn’t overly long or tedious (think Ayn Rand) and is something that one would read for a good story.

I would actually like to get some input from you on how to proceed with my own writing efforts. Is there a way I can contact you to correspond in that regard?

David, Glad you liked the book. Seriously, I think the next book is faster and more fun to read. The Outlaw Preacher being the first in a series, had to develop the character and thus took some time. Your idea sounds interesting. I’m thinking you could do a series based on a Christian lawyer with cases which seem hopeless until God comes into the equation. Feel free to email me @ linestr8@aol.com.

These books are not only evangelistic but inspiring for the Christian reader. By the way, I caught your reference to “Phil” in Redemption 🙂 way to mix a little reality in with the fiction. God bless!

Hi John, I have just finished reading your first two books tonight, and I loved them! I’m in a very low place right now, but I love the Lord Jesus with all my heart. I’m just tired. Your books were wonderful for my spirit and they fed my hungry soul, not knowing I was starving; if that makes any since. Thank you for your faithfulness to your calling. You truly touch lives, and bring light to dark places, through our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you and your family.

I’m with you Regina, things seem pretty scary lately. I don’t know for sure but I feel the heaviness of the enemy’s oppression many times myself. We need to pray for each other and for the strength to continue as the Lord has much remaining for us to accomplish in these last crazy days. We will be home soon, eternity is our guarantee but in the meantime, we fight, even when we feel beaten. We are not defeated, the enemy is defeated and he knows it. I’m so glad you enjoyed the books and that they fed you in some way. That is the purpose of the adventure, share and strengthen each other. I appreciate your note, it made my day. God bless you, John

John, I’m right in the middle of book #3. It’s been hard to put them down. Great reading and your delivery is right on point with how it is. As I’m sure you’ve probably heard, the books have changed some of my ways of thinking and how I look at life from my foxhole. In many ways I can relate my own path (minus the prison) with James’ life. I’m a retired U.S. Army veteran of 21 years with combat under my belt. You can only imagine the demons that follow you and how that affects you spiritually. These books were a wake-up call and I wanted to say thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing and can’t wait to see more in the series. Godspeed…..Allen

Allen, Thank you so much for your kind words. I can only imagine the “demons” you speak of but know that there is “one” who understands all of it. You know that in the Bible, Jesus speaks of how the Roman Centurian performs in the hierarchy, the chain of command, so I know that the Lord is with you in His understanding of what you and countless other brave Americans had to endure. Your identity is not tied to those days, your identity is “Child of God” first and everything else second. Nothing can take you from His hand and that, my friend, is good news! Rest in what He did for you, for me, for all of us. Rest in that wonderful peace and avail yourself to Him, you will begin to see His perfect plan for your life. Your endorsement of my book is welcomed and appreciated. I thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Thank you for your service to this country. Keep in touch brother.

Peace, John

Hi John,

I am an avid ebook reader and had “The Outlaw Preacher” in my extensive library for a long time before reading it. I believe the Holy Spirit led me to finally read it at this specific time. And, am I ever glad He did. I had no idea that it would be such a great read. But, the greatest thing is the way you wove the gospel into the narrative, and covered everything from Adam and Eve to the Resurrection as well.

I have been writing my own personal belief and testimony of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, but it has turned into an on and off again 44 page manuscript (complete with Biblical references) which has taken many years. My thought was to produce something to help my family and friends to arrive at a saving knowledge and personal relationship with Jesus. I did have most of my family and some friends read an earlier version. But, I am constantly finding the need to improve or add to the project. If I could only find some ways to share the gospel in my own personal encounters and in my written testimony the way your main character did! It was very impressive.

Alas, I am not a rider. My only experience ended in nearly wrecking my friends bike and getting 22 stitches around my right eye which I almost lost. And as I am now 76 years old, I doubt that I will be attempting to ride the highways on two wheels anytime soon. However, I appreciate the mindset. And, I would be glad to call you and your riding buddies my friends as well as my brothers in Christ.

Like your fictional outlaw, you have an exceptional skill to present the gospel in a unique way. I can see that you are truly led by the Holy Spirit, and I pray He will continue to bless your ministry for the gaining of many souls to Christ.

I can hardly wait to read your second book and whatever you may write in the future. I will be getting it on my Kindle ASAP.

May God, our Heavenly Father, bless you and your family,

Yours in Christ,

Vern Bedore

Vern, You made my day brother! I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. I am excited to hear how you enjoy the continuing “ride” with the preacher as he stumbles and bumbles along in his walk with the Lord. You captured my intent with the books. I call it, “conversational evangelism” and it’s my attempt to weave the gospel into everyday life. There are two more books for you to read, “The Miracle” and “Redemption” both Outlaw Preacher titles. I look forward to hearing from you.

God bless you and thanks again for the encouragement!

Hi, John! I caught your much valued freebie on Amazon a few days ago, through an app I have. It was the first book. Toward the end, after a much enjoyable read, I found out there are two more books! So good to know, I will devour them soon. Finally I see into your “dark” intent of having me purchase the two other books, haha! Now seriously, the read has really blessed me. I am a Christian worker overseas, and sharing the gospel is a challenge in such such a different culture and language. Your character has encouraged me to cling to Christ and to want to get deeper knowledge from the word, as it is difficult at times to quote from scripture with the ease your character did. By the way, I am from southern Europe, married to a beautiful American woman and waiting for baby girl #2! Reading your book also helped me get a better grasp of American culture, especially the biker kind! 🙂 May the Lord bless you, brother. Please pray for me right now that I not merely look for opportunities to “preach”, but that the Lord can use me to bless others by pointing them in loving way to our Lord and Savior.
